25th Anniversary of the Library

      On March 2, 1995 the L. E. Smoot Memorial Library held a reception to celebrate 25 years of service to the community. about 150  to 200 people attended the celebration.

      Mrs. Smoot's nephew Byron Hopewell and her Grandson Jay Hugger were in attendance along with Delegate Tayloe Murphy. The building contractor Robert N. Washington and his daughter Dixie came and reminisced with many of the guests about the building of our library.
