Library Organization

    The L.E. Smoot Memorial Library is a public library governed by a  Board of Trustees.   The Library Board of Trustees consists of 10 members, 2 from each district and 2 at-large members. Each member is nominated by their district supervisor  to serve a term of four years then they are approved of by the King George County Board of Supervisors. 

     The Library Director is hired by the Library Board of Trustees and has the responsibility for the day to day running of the library and the hiring of the library staff to assist in this endeavor.

          Friends of the Lewis Egerton Smoot Memorial Library, Inc., is a non-profit organization of persons interested in volunteering support to the Library. This organization is officially approved and sponsored by the Board of Trustees of the Library. Officers of the Friends are nominated and voted in by other members of the organization.
