SOUNDS OF SPRING 2008 SERIES  **FREE**

April 15th at 7 p.m.  2nd in Series - A Toe-Tapping Night!
featuring Steve Hickman & DeLaura Padovan,
Steve and DeLaura live on 57-acre King George homestead where they raise three daughters as well as numerous goats and chickens and tons of organic vegetables.
Steve plays extraordinary fiddle and also, is featured in the documentary "The Human Hambone". Steve is recognized as a virtuoso in the realm of body percussion. Go to this

DeLaura is a busy homeschool mom and loves singing and dancing with small children.
In 2007 she became a licensed Music Together teacher and now offers classes through KG Parks and Rec. She delights in accompanying Steve on ukulele, guitar or piano. Join in
for an evening of heartwarming songs sure to please the young and the young at heart.

May 20th at 7 p.m.  3rd and Final in Series - A Good Time Night!
featuring Roddy Barnes,  Singer, Songwriter, Composer and Pianist.
Roddy was born in Blanchard, Iowa. His parents were pig and grain farmers and some of his first memories were of hours of pulling weeds in the bean fields. To amuse himself, Roddy would make up songs as he worked - the start to his musical creativity. His first musical gig came at the tender age of 15. In high school he was awarded Musician of the Year three times in a row and was accepted as a sophomore into the US Collegiate Wind Band performing in New York, England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and France. He was awarded a full scholarship to Missouri Western State College where he studied classical piano, trumpet, voice, composition and theory. As a composer he has written an original score for theater, composed music for a commercial and scored a short film. After earning his BA, he was awarded a scholarship to study in France and performed in several French cities. Roddy has recorded 6 CD's.Today  Roddy can be found in Richmond, VA where he collaborates with other artists doing musical compositions, arrangements and accompaniment while continuing to perform solo. Summer Reading Program 2008

Thursday 2 P.M. Programs

June 19: Doodlebugs—visit the library between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to make some one-of-a-kind crafts. 

Registration for a 30-minute block is required.

June 26: Going Buggy—Entertainer Steve Kissell will perform a highly interactive and participative program of comedy, magic, juggling, puppetry and most of all, storytelling.

July 3: Bugs ‘n Stuff—Safari Steve will make science come alive with the antics of Franklin Frog.

July 10: Catch the Acting Bug—Get your chance to be on stage with an interactive play from The Rainbow Company.

July 17: Creepy Crawlies— Meet some creepy animals—A tarantula, cockroaches, toads, snakes, & more!  Reptiles Alive! LLC will be here.

July 24: When the Ants Go Marching—Bring a picnic basket, a blanket and enjoy the music of C-Shells.

July 31: Grand Finale*—Participate in a fast-paced, high energy, exciting Mad Science Spectacular Show.

 

All programs are held at the library except the Grand Finale*,

which will be held at the King George Citizen Center. 

*A Ticket is required to

attend the Grand Finale.

Library Board Meetings for 2008

The Board meets on the Second Tuesday every month at 6:00 p.m. at the Smoot Memorial Library in the Memorial Room.  The public is more than welcome to attend the meetings and we have a public comment time allotted at each meeting.   The Meetings for the 2008 Calendar are as follows:
